Judge Denies Cher's Request for Conservatorship Over Son Elijah Blue Allman

A Los Angeles County judge has rejected Cher's bid to gain a conservatorship over her son, Elijah Blue Allman, citing a lack of urgency in the case.

The singer filed for temporary conservatorship earlier this month, arguing that Allman, 49, had "significantly deteriorated" since a similar attempt in 2023. Court documents noted that Allman is currently held in a locked psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire, undergoing treatment to restore competency for criminal charges in two separate cases.

However, Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui ruled against the request, stating that while she understood family concerns, those did not justify a probate conservatorship. "I certainly understand the concerns of Mr. Allman's friends and family regarding his behavior," she said. "But those concerns do not necessarily equate to a finding that the proposed conservatee lacks capacity or that a probate conservatorship is appropriate. I am going to deny the temporary conservatorship without prejudice."

Allman appeared via video link from the hospital, only speaking to request legal representation and to thank the judge for her ruling.

Allman was arrested on March 1 after causing a disturbance at a private school, and again two days later for allegedly breaking into a home in Windham, New Hampshire.

The judge confirmed she would revisit the matter at a hearing in June.
