Juliet Stevenson on Missed Harry Potter Role and Career Reflections

Juliet Stevenson, the esteemed British actor known for roles in Truly, Madly, Deeply and Bend It Like Beckham, has revealed her biggest career disappointment: never being cast in the Harry Potter films. In a candid interview, the 69-year-old Rada graduate also discussed her struggles with body image, her reversal on marriage, and her love for Instagram dog accounts.

Stevenson, who has received critical acclaim for stage performances including an Olivier Award for Death and the Maiden and the 2019 Critics’ Circle Best Actress award for The Doctor, is currently touring By a Lady, a show about Jane Austen. The production is set to appear at the Buxton Opera House on May 10.

When asked about her most deplored trait, Stevenson quipped, "I talk too much."

Now based in London, Stevenson is married with two children. Her career spans film, television, and theatre, but the Harry Potter snub remains a lingering regret.
