Kaspersky Calls on Philippine Banks to Adopt New BSP Cybersecurity Assessment

Global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky is urging banks in the Philippines to make use of the new cybersecurity assessment framework recently introduced by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The framework is designed to help financial institutions identify vulnerabilities and strengthen their defenses against rising cyber threats.

In a statement, Kaspersky emphasized that the BSP's assessment tool provides a structured approach for banks to evaluate their security posture and comply with regulatory standards. The company noted that cyberattacks targeting the financial sector are becoming more sophisticated, making proactive measures essential.

"The BSP's cybersecurity assessment is a timely and valuable initiative. We encourage all banks to leverage it to enhance their resilience against cyber risks," a Kaspersky spokesperson said.

The move aligns with global trends where regulators are tightening cybersecurity requirements for financial institutions. Kaspersky also offered to support Philippine banks in implementing the framework, providing expertise and solutions to address identified gaps.
