Katy Perry's Team Fires Back After Ruby Rose Accuses Singer of Sexual Assault

Katy Perry's representatives have issued a forceful denial after actress Ruby Rose publicly accused the pop star of sexual assault, calling the allegations "categorically false" and "dangerous reckless lies."

Ruby Rose, the 40-year-old actress known for roles in Orange is the New Black and John Wick, made the claim on social media platform Threads in response to a video of Perry commenting on Justin Bieber's Coachella performance. Rose wrote that Perry "sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne" nearly two decades ago, adding, "Who gives a s--t what she thinks."

Perry's team responded swiftly with a statement to E! News on April 13:

"The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."

Rose initially stated she wasn't interested in filing a police report about the alleged incident or other sexual crimes she says she's experienced. However, she later announced she would be visiting a police station to explore whether any of her experiences could be investigated, acknowledging they might be past the statute of limitations.

"I have a long list, it will probably take more out of me than I'm prepared for," Rose wrote on Threads, later updating that she had followed through with her plan.

This isn't the first time Rose has made public allegations. In 2021, she came forward with multiple accusations about unsafe working conditions on the set of CW's Batwoman, which she cited as her reason for leaving the series after one season. Warner Bros. Television responded at the time that Rose was terminated due to "multiple complaints about workplace behavior."

Rose has also faced previous harassment allegations from ex-girlfriend Jessica Origliasso of The Veronicas, who in 2018 accused Rose of continued contact despite requests to stop.

E! News has reached out to Rose's representatives for comment but has not yet received a response.
