Sebastian Sawe became the first person in history to run a sub-two-hour marathon in official race conditions, winning the 2026 London Marathon in a record-breaking time.
Speaking with BBC Sport's Gabby Logan after the race, an emotional Sawe said, "I am so happy. This is a dream come true." The Kenyan's achievement marks a historic milestone in athletics, shattering the previous barrier thought impossible in competitive marathon running.
The race took place under ideal conditions, with Sawe maintaining a blistering pace throughout the 26.2-mile course. His time was officially recognized as the fastest marathon ever run in a certified race.
