Kenyan Runner Sabastian Sawe Smashes London Marathon Record, Parents Overjoyed

Sabastian Sawe's parents could not contain their joy after their son shattered the London Marathon world record on Sunday. The 31-year-old Kenyan crossed the finish line in an astonishing 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds, becoming the first person to complete the 26.2-mile course in under two hours.

Speaking from their home in rural Kenya, Simion and Emily Sawe told the BBC they watched the historic race unfold on television. "I jumped around the house!" Simion exclaimed, describing the moment his son broke the tape. The previous record, set by Eliud Kipchoge, was surpassed by more than a minute.

The couple is already planning celebrations for when Sabastian returns to Kenya. "We are so proud of him," Emily said. "This is a dream come true."

Sawe's achievement has captivated the athletics world, with many hailing it as one of the greatest moments in marathon history.
