Former U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema is fighting in court to obtain the therapy records of her boyfriend Matthew Ammel's ex-wife, Heather Ammel, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.
Heather is asking a judge to block subpoenas issued by Sinema that demand her therapist turn over session dates, notes, intake forms, invoices, and all communications related to her treatment.
Heather argues that Sinema has no right to access confidential patient-therapist communications. The judge has not yet ruled on the matter.
The legal battle stems from a lawsuit Heather filed against Sinema under a North Carolina law, alleging Sinema broke up her marriage. Sinema has admitted to an affair with Matthew but argues all encounters occurred outside North Carolina, and she seeks dismissal of the suit.
Heather previously submitted alleged text messages confronting Sinema about the affair.
