At the Los Angeles premiere of the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael, La Toya Jackson put to rest swirling rumors of a feud between her siblings Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson.
"There was absolutely no problem whatsoever," La Toya told Entertainment Tonight on April 20. "And please believe it."
The biopic, which hits theaters on April 24, stars Jermaine's son Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop. While the film follows Michael's rise to fame with The Jackson 5, Janet Jackson is notably absent from the project.
According to La Toya, Janet was approached to appear in the Antoine Fuqua-directed film but declined. "She was asked and she kindly declined," La Toya told Variety. "So you have to respect her wishes."
When asked whether other siblings might appear in a potential sequel, La Toya deferred to the filmmakers. "I'm not sure," she said. "That's a question for the producers and the filmmaker, and the studio. I hope so."
Despite criticism from Michael's daughter Paris Jackson, La Toya had nothing but praise for the biopic and Jaafar's performance. "I've seen the movie and fabulous job—absolutely fantastic," she told E! News. "He just embodied my brother and I'm so proud."
