Authorities are actively working to identify a driver who allegedly fled a gas station in Payatas, Quezon City without paying for fuel, in what is being described as a "gas-and-run" incident.
The Land Transport Office (LTO) has launched an investigation into the matter, which occurred at a local fuel station in the Payatas area. The driver reportedly filled up their vehicle and then drove off without settling the payment.
LTO officials have not released specific details about the vehicle or the exact time of the incident but confirmed they are reviewing available evidence, which may include security camera footage from the gas station, to track down the responsible individual.
Such incidents, while not uncommon, are treated seriously as they constitute theft of services. The LTO has urged gas station attendants and the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately to help prevent similar occurrences.
The agency also reminded motorists that evading payment for fuel is a violation that can lead to penalties, including fines and possible suspension of driving privileges, once the offender is identified and apprehended.
As the investigation continues, the LTO is coordinating with local law enforcement to expedite the identification process and ensure appropriate action is taken against the driver involved.
