Jazz-pop sensation Laufey has unveiled a groundbreaking digital collaboration, bringing the essence of her recent 'A Matter Of Time' arena tour into the virtual world of Fortnite. The integration, which went live on April 16 as part of Fortnite Festival Season 14, marks a significant crossover between contemporary music and gaming.
"I've been keeping this a secret for a while now and today's the day I can finally announce it to the world – I'm going to be in Fortnite," Laufey revealed in a behind-the-scenes clip.
The collaboration was announced by Epic Games earlier this week, accompanied by an animated launch video that transitions Laufey from a classic jazz club setting into the vibrant Fortnite universe. This move follows the successful global arena tour for her third album, 'A Matter Of Time,' which included a sold-out performance at London's O2 Arena in March and precedes her scheduled appearance at Coachella this weekend.
Fans can now engage with Laufey's world through several in-game items. Three character skins are available, modeled after outfits she wore during the live tour, including the 'Lover Girl' dress from her music video. Each skin comes with unique backbling accessories, such as a stage-design clock and a toy bunny named Mei Mei.
"I'm kinda obsessed with her," Laufey said of the bunny, which also features on a special weapon wrap.
The musical component includes Jam Tracks for songs 'Tough Luck' and 'Lover Girl,' complete with emotes inspired by Laufey's concert choreography. One tour dress skin even features a reactive color-changing style. Additional content includes the 'Madwoman' Jam Track and special 'Auras.'
"This is real, I'm in Fortnite... wow," Laufey added, encapsulating the novelty of the venture.
