Breanna Stewart delivered an all-around performance as the New York Liberty defeated the Connecticut Sun 82-65 on Saturday, extending their winning streak to five games.
Stewart finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists, leading a balanced Liberty attack. Jonquel Jones added 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Sabrina Ionescu chipped in 14 points and 7 assists.
The Liberty took control early, outscoring the Sun 25-14 in the first quarter, and never looked back. Connecticut trimmed the deficit to single digits in the third quarter, but New York responded with a 12-2 run to put the game away.
Alyssa Thomas led the Sun with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, but Connecticut shooting struggles—just 38% from the field—proved costly.
"We're playing with great energy and trust on both ends," said Liberty coach Sandy Brondello. "Breanna set the tone, and everyone followed."
The Liberty (9-3) next face the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday.
