Linda Perry Defends Nicki Minaj's Trump Support as a 'Lapse of Judgment'

Linda Perry, the lead singer of 4 Non Blondes, has come to Nicki Minaj's defense over the rapper's public support for Donald Trump, calling it a "lapse of judgment."

In a recent interview on Billboard's "Pop Shop Podcast," Perry suggested that Minaj may have made a questionable decision due to personal circumstances. "In Nicki’s case, it seems that she wanted something from the office and was trying to maybe help herself, a friend, a boyfriend — whatever — and was promised something and felt that it was worth the risk to take," Perry explained.

Drawing from her own experience, Perry said she could understand making a similar mistake if a loved one needed help. "Sometimes when we’re thinking about loved ones or trying to get out of a situation, we’re not thinking clearly," she added.

The comment comes amid Minaj's continued alignment with Trump, which she defended in a recent interview with Time, claiming, "Many celebrities feel the way I do, but they don't say it. Sometimes, you just need one brave person to get the brunt of the impact. I think I am the catalyst for that change."

Meanwhile, Perry and Minaj have a musical connection: 4 Non Blondes' hit "What's Up?" went viral last year in a TikTok mashup with Minaj's "Beez in the Trap."
