Littler Edges Humphries in Thriller to Retake Premier League Summit

Luke Littler reclaimed the top spot in the Premier League Darts standings with a dramatic 6-5 victory over Luke Humphries in Aberdeen on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old world number one, who also won in Liverpool last week, moved ahead of Jonny Clayton at the head of the table after a high-quality final that went to a last-leg decider. Littler averaged 104.11 to Humphries' 103.10 in the contest.

Humphries, the defending champion, had reached his first final since week six of the season and appeared poised to claim his first nightly win of the year after breaking Littler's throw in leg seven. But the teenager responded by taking three legs in a row, surviving three missed match darts on his favorite double 10 before sealing victory with his fourth attempt.

"I always want to be on the top," Littler told Sky Sports. "Now it is just time to chase and hopefully break my own records."

With two play-off spots remaining and five points separating the chasing pack, Humphries described the night as "do-or-die" and adopted a slower, more deliberate approach that paid off. His quarter-final win over Michael van Gerwen, followed by a semifinal victory over Gian van Veen, trimmed the gap to the fourth and final play-off berth to just two points.

Gerwyn Price consolidated his third-place standing despite a shaky quarter-final, while Van Veen's impressive run kept his own hopes alive. The race intensifies next week in Leeds, where Price faces Clayton and Van Gerwen takes on Littler.
