A shooting at the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday has left 10 people injured, two of them in critical condition, according to law enforcement officials. The incident, which police described as a targeted confrontation between two groups, prompted a heavy police response and a lockdown of the shopping center.
Baton Rouge Police reported that an argument escalated into an exchange of gunfire between the groups, with some victims possibly being innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. Authorities confirmed that there was no ongoing active threat, but search for the suspects continues.
At least six of the injured were transported to local hospitals, with two suffering life-threatening injuries. The motive behind the altercation remains under investigation, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
The shooting has shaken the community, which is still recovering from previous gun violence incidents in the area.
