While fans watched Connor Tomlinson and Georgie Harris fall in love on Netflix's Love on the Spectrum, their decision to part ways was a moment they chose to keep off-camera. Now, Connor's mother, Lise Smith, is revealing the thoughtful reasoning behind that private farewell.

"That was sort of at our request," Lise shared on a recent episode of her podcast, Talk to Me Sis. "We really, really want to be authentic and tell the true story… but I felt like this was a private moment that didn't need to be consumed."

The breakup, initiated by Connor in July 2025, came after a documented trip to London during the show's fourth season. According to Lise, the extended time together highlighted fundamental differences between the pair.

"He wants an adult connection, and I think the trip to England really shined a light on where Georgie is on her journey and where she is in life, and where Connor is," Lise explained. "And even though they were attracted to each other, I think Connor wanted to go a little bit deeper and have more handholding, maybe more of a physical relationship, and that maybe wasn't where Georgie was."

Lise noted that Connor realized, "Georgie is a great girl, she's just not my girl." Out of respect for Georgie—who may not have seen the split coming—and for Connor's own emotional process, they felt a filmed breakup would be inappropriate. The show's director and producer, Cian O'Clery, fully supported their wish for privacy.

Despite the end of their romantic relationship, there is no animosity. "They text," Lise said. "They wish nothing but the best for each other."

Connor, who recently announced his departure from the series, is now focusing on his career and personal growth. He remains active in the entertainment industry, with a particular passion for voice acting in animation, and is taking time to find "love on my own time."
