The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) has launched an airconditioned waiting area at Baclaran Station, offering passengers a comfortable space to escape the heat while waiting for trains. The facility, located on the station's upper concourse, is equipped with seats and cooling units, providing a respite from the often crowded and warm platform.
According to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the airconditioned waiting area aims to enhance the commuting experience and is part of ongoing efforts to improve passenger amenities across LRT-1 stations. The move comes as ridership continues to recover, with more people relying on public transport.
Passengers using the Baclaran Station can now wait in a cooler environment before boarding their trains, reducing discomfort during peak hours or when trains are delayed. The LRMC has not yet announced plans to expand similar facilities to other stations, but commuters have expressed appreciation for the upgrade.
This initiative aligns with broader improvements in Manila's rail systems, where operators are introducing features to make daily commutes more bearable.
