Major Relief at the Pump: Diesel Prices Set to Plummet by Nearly P25 per Liter

MANILA, Philippines – Motorists across the Philippines are in for significant savings as diesel prices are poised for a dramatic drop starting April 21. Shell Pilipinas announced a substantial rollback of P24.94 per liter, marking one of the largest single-week decreases in recent memory.

"Once imposed on Tuesday, the prices in Metro Manila would drop sharply to as much as P112 per liter for regular diesel and P147 per liter for premium diesel," the company stated in its advisory.

This reduction represents a notable shift from recent highs, where diesel had climbed to approximately P170 per liter. The price cut is expected to provide immediate financial relief for commuters, transport operators, and industries reliant on diesel fuel.

In addition to diesel, Shell also confirmed adjustments for other fuel types. Gasoline prices will see a decrease of P3.41 per liter, while kerosene will be reduced by P2 per liter. Other major fuel retailers are anticipated to follow suit with similar price adjustments, though official announcements are still pending.

The rollback comes amid fluctuating global oil markets and follows previous weeks of price volatility. Analysts suggest that the sharp decline could stimulate economic activity by lowering transportation and logistics costs across various sectors.
