More than 13,000 families in Makati City have received 10 kilograms of rice each under a government assistance program, officials announced on Monday.
The distribution, which began last week, aims to help low-income households cope with rising food costs. Beneficiaries are pre-identified through the city's social welfare database.
"This is part of our commitment to ensure that no family goes hungry," said a local government representative.
The rice aid is provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in coordination with the Makati City government. Further distributions are planned for other barangays in the coming weeks.
