A 45-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a series of knife attacks in London, including the stabbing of two Jewish men in Golders Green. The Metropolitan Police have declared the incident a terrorist attack.
Essa Suleiman is accused of attacking Shloime Rand, 34, and Moshe Shine, 76, in Golders Green, north London, on Wednesday. Both victims sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized. Suleiman also faces an additional charge of attempting to murder Ishmail Hussein in a knife attack at Hussein's flat in Southwark, south London, earlier the same day. Police say Suleiman had known Hussein for approximately 20 years.
Suleiman further faces a charge of possessing a knife in a public place in Golders Green. The court proceedings are ongoing.
