Manchester City One Win Away from WSL Title, Says Jeglertz

Manchester City manager Andree Jeglertz has insisted his team remains focused on their own performance as they close in on the Women's Super League title, which could be secured next week. City currently hold a nine-point lead over Chelsea at the top of the table, with only a few games remaining.

If City defeat Brighton on Saturday and Arsenal lose to bottom-placed Leicester City on Wednesday, Jeglertz's side will clinch their first WSL title in a decade. City are on 49 points and need to reach 54 to guarantee the championship, unless Arsenal drop points.

"We are definitely aware of the situation, fully aware. The situation is up to us and we cannot affect anything happening in the other game," said Jeglertz. "For us, we have to win our game on Saturday and that is where we are. What happens in all the other games, we can just watch and see."

Despite the external pressure, the Swedish manager noted that the possibility of winning the title has injected "extra energy" into the squad. City also have an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea scheduled for next month as they pursue a domestic double.

"We have done everything like we normally do and we're not changing anything. Everybody is fully focused but of course, there is extra energy in the group when you know you've done an almost perfect season," Jeglertz added. "The confidence is great because we know how the league can end, is up to us. That gives us confidence and great energy in the training sessions, of course."

City face Brighton at home on Saturday, with kick-off at 12:00 BST.
