Manchester United Women's manager Marc Skinner has stated he has "no doubts" about his position, despite growing fan discontent and a setback in the race for Champions League qualification.
United's hopes of securing a top-three spot in the Women's Super League (WSL) suffered a blow following a goalless draw with Tottenham last weekend. The result leaves them in fourth place, two points adrift of Arsenal with only two matches left in the season.
A significant section of the club's supporters have voiced doubts about Skinner's leadership, and the debate intensified ahead of Saturday's home clash with Brighton. However, Skinner remains resolute.
"Oh, absolutely, absolutely, no doubts. You've seen the growth of our team," Skinner responded when asked if he was still the right person for the role. "If you look at the job we have done, there have been highs and lows, of course there is, that is natural in any season. We are fully focused on getting this team to where we want it to be and we haven't finished the job yet."
Skinner added that he has received assurances from the club's hierarchy and feels fully aligned with their vision. "Whatever people say about me, I have to focus on performances. I have always done that — I'm always honest and truthful," he said. "I would put myself back into that position to make sure we get this team back to winning ways. That is what I'm here to do and what I will continue to do."
Manchester United face Brighton on Saturday at 12:00 BST, knowing a win is essential to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
