A friendly basketball game in Manila descended into violence on Sunday evening, culminating in a stabbing that left one person dead and another injured. The incident occurred at a public court in Barangay 649, where a heated argument between players escalated into a full-blown brawl.
According to police reports, the altercation began over a disputed foul call. As tensions mounted, one player allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed two opponents. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where one was declared dead on arrival. The other is in stable condition.
Authorities have arrested the suspect, identified as a 27-year-old resident of the area. He is now in police custody and faces charges of homicide and frustrated homicide. ”We are still gathering statements from witnesses,” said Police Captain Maria Santos, the investigating officer. ”We urge the public to remain calm and let the legal process take its course.”
