Manila Police File Charges Against 9 Labor Day Protesters

The Manila Police District (MPD) has filed criminal complaints against nine individuals who participated in the Labor Day protests on May 1. The charges include violation of the Public Assembly Act, obstruction of traffic, and other related offenses stemming from the rally that took place in Manila. According to police reports, the protesters allegedly failed to comply with permit conditions and caused public inconvenience. The MPD emphasized that while they respect the right to peaceful assembly, actions that disrupt public order and safety will be met with legal consequences. The nine respondents are expected to face preliminary investigation before the Manila Prosecutor's Office.
