Actor Mark Herras has finally addressed the viral video that showed him in tears, revealing the personal struggles behind his emotional breakdown during a recent television interview.
Appearing on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" last Friday, Herras explained that his public display of emotion stemmed from ongoing difficulties in his marriage to Nicole Donesa. The actor admitted to experiencing depression and described the video as an outlet for his feelings.
"I didn't post it to get sympathy from people," Herras told host Boy Abunda. "I never usually post things like that. It was just a way to vent out."
The actor revealed that work pressures and family responsibilities had left him without anyone to confide in about his problems. The situation came to a head during a disagreement with his wife, prompting Herras to consider temporarily leaving their home to avoid escalating tensions.
"We have this habit where, to prevent arguments from getting worse, I just leave the house," he explained. "I don't want the children to witness us fighting."
Herras became emotional when describing the moment he realized he might be separated from his children, Corky and Mina, even temporarily. While preparing to leave, memories of bathing his eldest child daily and the unique smile his youngest daughter reserves just for him overwhelmed him.
"Being a dad who knew I might be separated from them for days or weeks, I broke down," Herras shared. "That's the reason I was crying."
The actor expressed gratitude for the support he received from friends in the entertainment industry following the video's circulation. He emphasized that while he hesitated about being apart from his children, he believed leaving was necessary to prevent further conflict with his wife.
Herras's candid revelation provides insight into the personal challenges behind his viral moment, highlighting the complex balance between family relationships and personal well-being.
