Mark Herras Opens Up About Marriage Struggles and Social Media Backlash

Following the release of a viral video showing him in tears, actor Mark Herras has candidly discussed the current state of his relationship with his wife, Nicole Donesa.

During a recent appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Herras clarified that his emotional breakdown was unrelated to financial or work-related pressures.

"It's a personal issue that I needed to address," the Kapuso actor explained. "I posted that video simply to vent out."

Herras revealed that after an argument with his wife, he considered leaving their home temporarily but hesitated because he didn't want to be away from their children. However, he also wanted to prevent their marital conflict from escalating further.

"Should I stay home so I don't miss them, or should I leave to avoid constant arguing?" Herras questioned. "I don't want that kind of stress in my life."

After posting the video, Donesa questioned his motives, asking if he was seeking public sympathy. Herras firmly denied this, stating he simply needed an outlet for his emotions.

"I told her, 'You know me. I've been in this industry for a long time—I don't ask for that kind of attention from people.' I just needed to vent so I wouldn't lose control or explode," he shared.

The actor expressed gratitude toward his showbiz friends who reached out with concern and support. However, he addressed negative speculation from some netizens who connected his emotional state to rumors about his career.

"Some people were spreading that I have no work, which affects how my fellow actors perceive me," Herras said. "It's embarrassing—as if I'm begging for jobs. But I have work, and I've had work since that time until now."

Herras admitted that when he wrote his responses to critics, he was already upset, leading him to tell netizens they had no right to comment on matters they didn't understand.

"People love to interfere in others' lives without having any right to do so," he asserted.

Managing Conflict Through Digital Distance

Herras also shared his unconventional approach to de-escalating arguments with his wife: temporarily blocking her on social media.

"When we fight, I need to leave the house to avoid constant bickering," he explained. "But if I leave and we're still arguing through text, how can we relax or resolve anything? So I say, 'I'll block you for now'—for peace of mind and silence."

He noted that once they reconcile, they refollow each other, though sometimes he keeps her blocked even after returning home for a week if things are going well.

Despite their struggles, Herras firmly denied any separation from Donesa, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a united family for their children.

"Having a complete family for our kids is a huge factor for Nicole and me," he said. "Wherever they are, that's where I'll be."
