A new research paper from CEAMLS argues that the widespread belief that artificial intelligence will lead to shared prosperity is misleading. Titled "The Misleading Narrative of AI Shared Prosperity: A Marxist Reply," the study examines three key dimensions where AI is expected to deliver broad benefits: between capitalists and workers, between the Global North and Global South, and between current and future generations regarding the environment.
While acknowledging that AI could drive overall economic growth, the researchers contend that the assumption of shared prosperity is flawed from a Marxist perspective. The paper will soon be published in a book.
