Wigan Warriors prop Mary Coleman has been named in England's squad for the first time ahead of their mid-season international against France later this month.
The 28-year-old, who switched to rugby league four years ago after playing union for Preston Grasshoppers, has been selected by head coach Stuart Barrow for the one-off Test at Stade Ernest Wallon in Toulouse on 25 July.
Coleman previously played at Twickenham for Cambridge University in the Varsity match three times and has also represented Kent in both rugby union and athletics. She was part of the Wigan side that thrashed St Helens 54-6 at Wembley in May to win the Women's Challenge Cup.
Barrow has opted not to include any Australia-based players because the NRLW season is ongoing. The match serves as preparation for the Women's World Cup, which begins in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in October. England kick off their campaign against Wales in Perth on 17 October.
"While our immediate focus is on delivering a strong performance in France, every training session and camp over the coming months will help shape where we need to be when the World Cup begins," Barrow said.
