Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stepped out together in New York City on April 30, a rare joint sighting of the famously private twins. The 39-year-old fashion moguls were spotted walking through Midtown Manhattan before meeting a friend for lunch.
Mary-Kate opted for a long black coat, black pants, a white scarf, and sunglasses, while Ashley wore blue jeans, a mid-length black coat, a black scarf, and round sunglasses.
Since retiring from acting in 2012, the former child stars have focused on their luxury fashion brand, The Row, which they founded in 2005. At the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, they won American Accessory Designer of the Year.
"To our individual buyers, you have been our guiding light for the past 20 years now," Mary-Kate said while accepting the award. "To our amazing customers who truly give us the opportunity to do what we love, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you."
She also thanked their family, including Ashley's husband Louis Eisner and their 3-year-old son Otto, saying their support made it all possible.
Looking back, Ashley told i-D in 2021 that when they moved to New York at 18, they weren't fully conscious of what they were building. "We wanted to take that time to take a break from what we were previously doing and to explore things that interested us," she said.
The twins deliberately kept their names off The Row initially. "We didn't want to be in front of it, we didn't necessarily even want to let people know it was us," Ashley explained. "It was really about the product."
Despite their Hollywood fame, Mary-Kate and Ashley have successfully transitioned into fashion icons, maintaining a low profile while building an empire.
