Mason Mount has declared that Manchester United have the quality and mindset to win the Premier League next season, ending a 13-year title drought. The midfielder, who joined from Chelsea in 2023 for £55 million, made the bold claim as United close in on Champions League qualification.
Speaking after United's victory over Brentford, Mount said: "I've won the Champions League already, so I have a goal of winning the Premier League. Can we do that? Yes, I think we can." He acknowledged that the target may seem distant but stressed the importance of having that mentality.
United have shown they can beat top sides like Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal, but Mount emphasized the need for consistency. "Now it's about doing it on a bigger stage in the Champions League and doing it more consistently in the Premier League," he said.
Despite limited starts this season—only 10 in the Premier League—Mount remains confident in his ability. "I will always back myself," he said. "I love being a part of a massive club. Being a part of getting this club back to the top, where it deserves to be, is super special."
He also reflected on United's FA Cup triumph last season, adding: "To do a Premier League? I can't even imagine how special that would be."
The 27-year-old was speaking at a Make-A-Wish event he funded, where he managed a team of children with critical illnesses. He didn't rule out a future in management, but for now his focus is on helping United secure Champions League football and mounting a title challenge next season.
