The UROpenEd Program has released the first part of a workshop series designed to help educators and researchers craft successful grant proposals for Open Educational Resources (OER). Presented by Shuana Niessen, Open Education & Publishing Program Manager at University of Regina, the workshop focuses on the initial phases of proposal planning.

Part 1 covers two of the five key planning phases: research and pre-production. Attendees learn how to research the landscape of existing OER, identify gaps, and build a solid foundation for their proposal. The pre-production phase then guides participants through defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

The workshop is ideal for those who have considered applying for a University of Regina OER grant but lacked confidence in structuring their proposal. By breaking down the process into manageable steps, the session aims to demystify grant writing and empower participants to turn their OER ideas into funded projects.

"This session is for those who have thought about applying for a University of Regina OER grant but didn't know how to approach the proposal," Niessen explains. "This is a step-by-step workshop to create a proposal."
