Maynilad Water Services Inc. announced a reduction in its water rates for the third quarter of the year, lowering the charge by 12 centavos per cubic meter. The adjustment brings the rate from P51.88 per cubic meter in the second quarter to P51.76 per cubic meter for Q3.
The decrease is attributed to lower power costs and other operational expenses. Maynilad noted that the quarterly rate adjustments reflect changes in the cost of electricity, chemicals, and other inputs used in water treatment and distribution. The company serves customers in the west zone of Metro Manila and parts of Cavite.
This rate reduction provides slight relief to consumers amid rising costs of living. However, the new rate still reflects a significant increase compared to last year's levels.
