Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to the octagon lasted barely over a minute at UFC 329 on Saturday night, as a leg injury forced a technical knockout loss to Max Holloway.
The former featherweight champion, fighting for the first time in five years, attempted a roundhouse kick early in the bout but fell to the canvas. He rose and tried again, only to collapse a second time. Moments later, after throwing a punch at Holloway, McGregor grabbed his right leg in pain, and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight at 1:09 of the first round.
UFC broadcaster Megan Olivi reported the injury as a "right internal knee injury." Holloway was awarded the TKO victory.
McGregor's last fight was in 2021, when he suffered a fractured left leg against Dustin Poirier. The Irish star had promised a dominant return, but his latest setback leaves his fighting future uncertain.
