McMullen's All-Round Brilliance Powers Scotland to Victory Over Namibia

Windhoek, Namibia – Scotland secured a commanding seven-wicket victory against Namibia in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series, propelled by a standout performance from Brandon McMullen.

Namibia, batting first, posted 198 all out in 49 overs. Louren Steenkamp anchored the innings with a resilient 67, supported by captain JJ Smit's 43. The pair built an 87-run partnership before McMullen broke through, dismissing Smit. Namibia's lower order faltered, adding only 22 runs for the loss of four wickets. McMullen finished with impressive bowling figures of 3-47.

Scotland's chase began shakily, losing both openers early to Ruben Trumpelmann. However, McMullen, shifting from bowler to batsman, crafted a flawless century, retiring on exactly 100 due to cramp. His innings, which included 12 boundaries and three sixes, marked his fifth ODI century for Scotland and pushed him past 2,000 runs for the national team.

Captain Richie Berrington provided crucial support with 43 runs, while Mark Watt and Matthew Cross sealed the win with an unbroken 41-run partnership, reaching the target in just 38 overs.

"It was a complete performance from Brandon today," said Berrington. "To contribute so significantly with both bat and ball under pressure shows his class and commitment."

The win marks a return to form for Scotland, who suffered a recent defeat to Oman in weather-affected conditions. With this victory, Scotland remains second in the World Cup League 2 standings, having played four more matches than table-toppers USA.
