Pop star Meghan Trainor has candidly discussed her emotional journey welcoming her third child via surrogate, revealing her fears of public backlash and the complex decisions behind the choice.

Trainor, known for hits like "All About That Bass," and her husband Daryl Sabara welcomed their daughter, Mikey Moon Trainor, in January with the help of a gestational surrogate. In a recent podcast appearance, the singer admitted she braced for criticism, a concern heightened by previous negative reactions to her 60-pound weight loss.

"I knew fully—because it was after all the hate I was already getting for changing, just for looking different because I took care of myself—so I was like, ‘Oh, they hate me now. They ain't going to like this,’" Trainor shared on Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast. "And it was a cloud of tears every night of just worry."

She expressed a deep desire to protect her newborn daughter from public scrutiny over her arrival. "I want my daughter to come to this world and not everyone attack her for the way she got here. All of that went through my head," Trainor added. Her support system, including her husband, provided strength. "My husband was like, ‘Everyone can suck our ass.'"

The decision to pursue surrogacy stemmed from health considerations. Trainor explained she was "struggling with my health and almost towards an autoimmune disease," making it the safest option for expanding their family, which includes sons Riley, 5, and Barry, 2.

"There's so much that goes into it, but we had an amazing surrogate who was so good to us and texts us everything and we got to talk all the time."

The process brought unique anxieties, with Trainor describing feeling like she was going "crazy" knowing her daughter "was alive in someone else." However, she also highlighted positive aspects, particularly the ability to be fully present postpartum without recovering from a C-section, as she did with her previous births.

"I'll tell you what's different is not healing from a C-section with a newborn," she noted. "That was different. I could be so present with her and with my other kids."

In January, the couple announced their daughter's birth on Instagram, writing, "Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate. We are over the moon in love with this precious girl."
