Meryl Streep Embraces 'Over-Involved' Grandma Role, Cherishing Six Grandchildren Under Six

Meryl Streep has playfully confessed to being an "over-involved" grandmother, sharing rare personal reflections on her cherished role with six grandchildren—all under the age of six.

In a recent interview with Vogue, the legendary actress described grandparenthood as "divine," emphasizing the fleeting nature of time with her young family. "It's just grabbing seconds, just grabbing everything you can of them," Streep explained, "with the knowledge of how completely fleeting it all is and how rapidly time goes."

Streep, 76, became a grandmother in 2019 when her daughter Mamie Gummer welcomed son Peter. The family has since expanded with grandchildren from all three of her children: Mamie, Henry, and Grace Gummer. Henry and his wife Tamyrn have two children, while Grace and her husband Mark Ronson have welcomed two daughters.

"It's the longest, shortest time," Streep reflected about watching her grandchildren grow. "You can't get anything back. So take as much as you can."

The three-time Oscar winner expressed deep gratitude for the time her children allow her with their families, though she joked about the logistical challenges. "The only thing is that they're on two coasts, so I'm in the airplane a lot," she said with characteristic humor.

When asked about potential future additions to her grandmother duties, Streep remained hopeful: "I hope we're not done, but we'll see." Her comments offer a rare glimpse into the personal life of an actress who has famously kept her family out of the spotlight while maintaining one of Hollywood's most celebrated careers.
