Metallica has paid tribute to legendary conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, their collaborator on the groundbreaking 'S&M2' performances. In a heartfelt statement, the band described working with him as "a very high honor."
Thomas, a towering figure in classical music, led the San Francisco Symphony during the 2019 concerts that blended metal and orchestral arrangements. The band praised his musicianship and partnership, noting the unique challenge of merging their sound with a full symphony.
"Having him on the podium for our shows was a privilege," Metallica said. Thomas, who has since stepped down from his role with the symphony, remains an icon in both classical and crossover music.
