Metallica has announced a massive remastered reissue of their 1997 album Reload, set for release on June 26 via Blackened Recordings. The thrash metal titans are celebrating the quadruple-platinum record with a deluxe box set loaded with previously unheard material, including demos, rough mixes, live performances, and TV appearances.
The standard edition will be available on 180g 2LP, CD, cassette, and digital formats, alongside a 3CD Expanded Edition. But the crown jewel is the 'Reload Remastered Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set,' a one-time numbered pressing that contains 15 CDs of rare riffs, B-sides, and live tracks, plus four DVDs featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the band's travels to Seoul and more.
Physical extras include a pack of 13 Rorschach Test cards, an 11x17 "Gimme Fuel" poster, a sticker, a Pushead print, a 10-pack of guitar picks, lyric sheets, three laminated tour passes, and a 128-page book with never-before-seen photos and stories from those who were there.
The remastering was handled by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering, with oversight from Greg Fidelman. Fans can pre-order the deluxe box set now at the linked official store.
