Metro Manila Drivers Gain Immediate Relief with P10-Per-Liter Fuel Subsidy at 46 Stations

MANILA, Philippines — Public utility vehicle drivers in Metro Manila can now access a significant fuel subsidy of up to P10 per liter at 46 designated gasoline stations, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced. This initiative follows a recent pledge by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to provide financial relief to drivers and operators, capping the benefit at 150 liters weekly per participant.

Jeepney and UV Express drivers, who typically consume around 30 liters of diesel daily, stand to benefit directly from this program. The selected stations are strategically located along six major transport routes: Commonwealth Avenue, Marcos Highway, Quezon Avenue-España Boulevard, A. Bonifacio Avenue (from Cloverleaf to Blumentritt), Rizal Avenue, and Zapote Road.

DOE Secretary Sharon Garin emphasized the program's objectives, stating:

"This subsidy offers immediate, targeted, and practical relief. It aims to lower fuel expenses for our public transport drivers and operators, support the sustainability of their operations, and alleviate pressure on commuters who depend on affordable daily transportation."

The rollout marks a concrete step in the government's efforts to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs on the transport sector and the broader public.
