Midtjylland Teenager Alamara Djabi Stabbed in Herning, Now Stable After Emergency Surgery

Midtjylland midfielder Alamara Djabi is recovering in hospital after being seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Denmark over the weekend.

Local police confirmed the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in Herning, the central Danish town where the football club is based. The 19-year-old player from Guinea-Bissau was rushed to hospital with critical injuries.

"He has awakened from an induced coma and is doing well under the circumstances," Midtjylland said in a statement.

The club revealed that Djabi required emergency surgery immediately after the incident and has since undergone another operation. Medical staff have now stabilized his condition.

Djabi joined Midtjylland in 2023 from Benfica's academy and has made two senior appearances for the Danish side. Last season, he spent time on loan with Portuguese second division club CD Mafra, where he made seven appearances.

Midtjylland, who have won the Danish Superliga four times with their most recent title coming in 2024, are currently second in the league standings, just two points behind leaders AGF.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain under investigation by local authorities. No further details about potential suspects or motives have been released at this time.
