Actor Miguel Tanfelix is set to take on his first solo hosting role in the upcoming travel series "Planet XP," a venture he describes as a dream come true. The 27-year-old star expressed his enthusiasm for the project, revealing his long-standing desire to helm a travel program.
"I've been wishing for a travel show for a long time. So, this is a dream come true that now, at 27 years old, I've been given a travel show. The timing of 'Planet XP' was also very unexpected," Tanfelix shared.
Inspired by seasoned hosts like Dingdong Dantes of "Amazing Earth" and Drew Arellano of "Biyahe Ni Drew," Tanfelix aims to showcase his authentic self as an adventurer and traveler. He emphasized his goal to immerse audiences in diverse cultures and communities across the country.
"I want to show the audience who I am as an adventurer, a traveler. That's what I really do," he said. "For me and the whole team—yes, I have a team now, almost like Jessica Soho! 'The team flies with me.' But with us, we don't just fly. We sailed, we hiked. So, it's very immersive. I personally go to each community to experience their culture, their daily activities, what they eat, how they live."
The five-part infotainment show, a partnership between GMA Network and the National Council for Children's Television under the National Endowment Fund for Children's Television, is designed to spark interest among young viewers in the nation's varied communities and natural beauty. Tanfelix hopes each episode will be both educational and enjoyable.
"Planet XP" is scheduled to premiere on May 2, airing every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on GMA.
