Minnesota United Dismiss Rumor of James Rodriguez's Rare Muscle Condition

Minnesota United has officially refuted claims that midfielder James Rodriguez is battling a rare and potentially life-threatening muscle-wasting condition. The club issued a statement to address widespread speculation regarding the health of the Colombian star.

Rodriguez, 34, was hospitalized last week after showing signs of illness during Colombia's 3-1 loss to France on March 29. He spent three days under medical care for severe dehydration before being released.

Following his discharge, rumors circulated on social media and in some U.S. media outlets suggesting Rodriguez might be suffering from rhabdomyolysis—a serious condition where muscle tissue breaks down and can lead to kidney damage.

"The club and our medical professionals can unequivocally state there has been no clinical or laboratory evidence of rhabdomyolysis," Minnesota United clarified.

The Colombia Football Federation had previously noted Rodriguez was being monitored for a "non-sports-related medical condition" but described his prognosis as "favorable."

Rodriguez returned to the training ground on Monday for a supervised session, with his full reintegration to be managed by the team's medical staff. Since joining Minnesota United in February, he has made two appearances in Major League Soccer.

The former Real Madrid and Everton player, who has earned 124 caps for Colombia, continues his recovery under the watchful eye of club physicians, putting to rest concerns over his long-term health.
