Muse Ignites Brixton Academy with Electrifying Debut of 'Cryogen' and 'Be With You'

Muse launched their new musical era with a spectacular, sold-out performance at London's O2 Academy Brixton last night, marking their first return to the iconic venue in 25 years. The intimate show served as the kickoff for their upcoming 10th studio album, 'The Wow! Signal,' featuring the live debut of two new tracks.

Fans, some of whom had camped out since the previous day, erupted as the space rock trio took the stage around 9:20 PM. The band opened with a powerful one-two punch of classics, simmering through 'Interlude' before exploding into the bass-driven 'Hysteria' from their 2003 album 'Absolution.' They immediately followed with 'Map Of The Problematique' from 'Black Holes & Revelations.'

Frontman Matt Bellamy then engaged the eager crowd, asking, "Do you fancy a new song?" before unleashing 'Cryogen.' The track was described as a return to the band's early-2000s sound—a wailing guitar riff, a massive chorus built for arenas, and lyrics painting a dystopian sci-fi landscape.

The set also featured other previews from 'The Wow! Signal,' including last year's heavier track 'Unravelling' and the live premiere of the recent single 'Be With You.' The latter was met with an ecstatic reception, feeling instantly familiar to the audience and culminating in a celebratory explosion of ticker tape and confetti.

The historic gig, a rare small-venue appearance for the stadium-filling band, has set a high bar for their new album cycle, demonstrating that Muse can deliver both intimate intensity and their signature explosive grandeur.
