Navy Mandates AI Tool Use for All Personnel by April 30 Deadline

The Department of the Navy has set a firm deadline for all employees to begin using generative artificial intelligence tools, marking a major step in military AI adoption. As one of the largest users of the Defense Department's Gen AI.mil platform, the Navy designated the tool as an enterprise service just five days after evaluation. All personnel—including sailors, Marines, and civilian staff—must now use the AI for handling controlled unclassified information and Impact Level 5 (IL5) data by April 30.
