Nedra Talley Ross, a founding member of the pioneering 1960s girl group the Ronettes, has died at the age of 80. Her sister-in-law confirmed the news but did not specify the cause of death.
Ross, along with her cousin Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett (later Ronnie Spector) and her sister Estelle Bennett, formed the Ronettes in the late 1950s. The group rose to fame with hits such as "Be My Baby," "Baby, I Love You," and "Walking in the Rain." Their signature sound, produced by Phil Spector, combined soaring vocals with lush orchestration.
The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Ross continued to perform in later years, sometimes with a revived version of the group. She is survived by her husband and two children.
