Nelly Walks Free on Assault Charge, Fined for Littering at Casino

Rapper Nelly has reached a plea deal that drops the assault charge against him from a 2025 confrontation with a security guard at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, Missouri. Instead, he faces a misdemeanor littering citation and a $750 fine.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the incident occurred on July 14, 2025, when a security guard asked Nelly to show his player's card before entering a restricted area. The guard claimed Nelly shoved him and proceeded inside. Security footage captured the altercation.

Prosecutors initially charged Nelly with misdemeanor assault in September 2025, but on April 29, 2026, the court approved a deal: the assault charge was dismissed, and Nelly pleaded to the littering charge based on trash he tossed at the casino. He paid the fine, and the judge signed off on the sentence.

Nelly's representative previously stated, "Nelly was stunned to receive a summons from a two-month-old incident where an overzealous guard blocked his path and invaded his space. Nelly guided him aside with minimal contact and no intent to injure."

The rapper has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
