Netflix is venturing deeper into the gaming world with the launch of Netflix Playground, a specialized app designed exclusively for young children. The streaming giant's latest move targets kids aged eight and under, offering a curated collection of games based on popular children's shows.
"We're creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play," said John Derderian, Netflix's VP of Animation Series + Kids & Family TV.
Unlike many children's gaming platforms, Netflix Playground comes with no advertisements or in-app purchases. The games are included as part of standard Netflix subscriptions, continuing the company's strategy of integrating gaming into its entertainment ecosystem.
The initial rollout includes markets in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand, with a global expansion scheduled for April 28th. The launch lineup features titles based on beloved children's franchises like Peppa Pig and Sesame Street, the latter of which recently joined Netflix's streaming catalog.
This development represents Netflix's continued investment in family-friendly content and gaming initiatives, positioning the company as a comprehensive entertainment provider for households with young children.
