"Owning Manhattan" star Jade Shenker was locked in a legal battle with the guardian of her late father, Marc Shenker, months before his death, court documents reveal.
According to records obtained by TMZ, Jade challenged guardian Bonnie Stevens over access to financial documents pertaining to her father's New York residence. Stevens argued that Jade was not entitled to all the requested information, but the reality TV personality asserted her right to participate in the guardianship proceedings.
Marc Shenker had been under guardianship since 2022, and passed away on April 12, 2026. In court filings prior to his death, Jade opposed the guardian's request to sell the property, alleging that Stevens' "mismanagement of the property and failure to properly seek refinancing options created the very circumstances the guardian now claims necessitate the property's sale." Jade believed refinancing could cover all expenses, while the guardian maintained that selling was necessary to pay for Marc's care and guardianship fees.
Ultimately, Stevens stated she intended to refinance due to delays caused by Jade's legal challenges.
This dispute comes amid Jade's own scrutiny of her father's death. As previously reported, she has questioned the preliminary findings, which deemed his death natural. Jade told TMZ she plans to commission an independent autopsy. Police have stated, "The preliminary investigation suggests no foul play, and the death appears to be natural."
