Northampton outlast Bath in epic 12-try Premiership showdown

Northampton Saints cemented their status as Premiership title favorites with a dramatic 41-38 victory over second-placed Bath at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens, sealed by Fin Smith's last-minute penalty in a match featuring 12 tries.

In a breathless first half, the league leaders raced to a 26-14 lead. Smith opened the scoring after breaking through a gap, followed by a double from Tommy Freeman and a try from Ollie Sleightholme. Bath responded through Louie Hennessey and Arthur Green.

The second half continued the see-saw battle. Tom Carr-Smith and Sleightholme exchanged tries before Tom de Glanville and Archie Griffin hauled Bath level. Freeman completed his hat-trick for Northampton, only for Kepu Tuipulotu to equalize again. With time running out, Smith kept his composure to slot the winning kick.

Saints' early dominance was built on strong attacking play, with Freeman's try-saving counter-attack in the first half proving pivotal. Bath fought back relentlessly, but Northampton's discipline under pressure ultimately made the difference.
