Nvidia Backs Legal AI Startup Legora in Escalating Rivalry with Harvey

Legal AI startup Legora has reached a $5.6 billion valuation, and its competition with rival Harvey is intensifying. The Swedish-born company, which uses artificial intelligence to streamline legal workflows, recently closed a $50 million Series D extension, bringing its total Series D funding to $600 million.

Notably, Nvidia's corporate venture arm, NVentures, participated in the extension—marking the chipmaker's first investment in legal AI. Atlassian also joined as a new investor. The funding comes just a month after Legora's initial $550 million Series D round, which valued the company at over $5.5 billion.

Legora claims to have surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue, a milestone that underscores rapid adoption of its AI tools by law firms. The startup, a Y Combinator graduate, is now aggressively expanding into the U.S. market, directly challenging San Francisco-based Harvey.

Both companies have raised massive sums and pushed into each other's territories, with dueling advertising campaigns now running. The legal AI sector is heating up as law firms seek automation for document review, contract analysis, and legal research.

Nvidia's investment signals confidence in Legora's technology and market position, adding further fuel to the startup's battle with Harvey.
