NVIDIA has announced major breakthroughs in autonomous driving technology at its GTC 2026 conference, with CEO Jensen Huang declaring that "the ChatGPT moment for self-driving cars has arrived."
The company unveiled Alpamayo, a new reasoning AI system designed to enhance decision-making in autonomous vehicles. Additionally, NVIDIA introduced the Hyperion platform, which is now ready for robotaxi deployment.
Several automakers, including BYD and Nissan, have adopted NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion for Level 4 autonomous vehicles. In a significant partnership, NVIDIA also announced plans to launch software-driven robotaxis on Uber across 28 cities by 2028.
These developments mark a pivotal shift in the autonomous vehicle industry, bringing AI-driven self-driving technology closer to widespread commercial use.
